Besides being culturally appropriate, guinea pigs are very affordable to provide in the areas where we work. Guinea pigs also require little space, making them ideal for families without enough land for a farm. These micro-livestock also reproduce quickly -- up to six times per year -- producing enough not only for a family's food needs, but also surplus to sell for income.
