Since 1971, Food for the Hungry has boldly served and spoken out for the poor, sending courageous men and women to help communities, by the power and grace of God, achieve sustainable, lasting transformation. Food for the Hungry is more than a relief and development organization. We are a tested, trusted and innovative partner who respectively walks with the poor in more than 26 countries worldwide while intentionally reflecting the love of Jesus.
Food for the Hungry goes to the hard places to bring hope to many who face seemingly hopeless circumstances. "God calls us particularly to those places of poverty that are hurting and often unstable," says Food for the Hungry President Benjamin K. Homan.
Within the pages of this website, you can meet some of the people being helped in some of the world’s hard places… along with the courageous people, more than 1,800 men and women, responding to God’s call to end physical and spiritual hungers worldwide. They are people like Meshac Samba, who tirelessly serves in conflict-ridden Democratic Republic of the Congo, humbly spreading the hope that comes only through Christ. And Kim Brown, who brought her family to Nicaragua to help build a program that trains Nicaraguan pastors to reach out in their communities and bring about physical and spiritual transformation. And John Marsden, whose humble leadership has spurred the rapid growth of women’s savings groups in Bangladesh, transforming their families and their communities.
